Why I Stopped Feeling Guilty for Playing Video Games (Gaming at 48)
If you’ve ever put down a controller because you felt like you should be doing something more “productive,” this one’s for you. I’m talking about gaming guilt: that nagging feeling so many gamers know all too well when trying to balance retro gaming with work, family, and adult life. Time constraints, financial guilt, the backlog shame spiral, I cover it all. This might be the most personal video I’ve made yet.

SEGA GENESIS • 1996
If you loved NBA Jam Tournament Edition, and you have never tried NBA Hang Time, boy do I have something special for you! NBA Hangtime is the true sequel to TE, and is better in pretty much every regard. The gameplay still holds up today and the graphics are STUNNING for the Genesis\Mega Drive. Four player action makes this one of the best multiplayer experiences on the system. Best of all, it’s easy to find and you can snag a loose cartridge on eBay right now for under $10 before shipping. At that price there is absolutely no excuse not to own it.
Super Metroid is my favorite game on the SNES. I finally got to sit down with this one last year and once I started playing it I just couldn’t stop! At $90 for a loose cartridge, it’s not cheap, and keep in mind it does have a battery inside for saving your progress which may need replacing. My suggestion? Play it any way you can. It is available on the Switch through the Nintendo Online subscription service. If you hate subscriptions; it plays beautifully on emulators. One nice thing about playing on Switch or an emulator is you get to use save states. This turns the game into a more pick up and play experience. Don’t let the price stop you from playing this absolute classic!
